The America I Know

If the 2016 election cycle taught us anything, it may be that our country is more deeply divided than many of us ever imagined. And the distance between us — between the wealthy and the barely-making-it, the urban and the rural, white people and people of color, the more educated and the less educated — is often so vast that we can find almost nothing of consequence that we agree on, from a vision for the future to our core values to the very facts that underlie our most critical convictions. In this series of conversations, we’ll probe the roots of these divisions, explore as many “Americas” as we can through the authentic voices of a diverse group of Americans, and, we hope, create some empathy and new understanding in the process.
