Shauna Carey

Shauna Carey is chief executive officer of IDEO.org, leveraging deep expertise in both design and social impact to oversee company strategy and vision. Previously, she was executive design director and chief communications officer there, working with design teams and communities to unlock new possibilities, create action-inspiring narratives, and share stories about the impact of design. Over nine years at IDEO.org, Carey has worked on projects and programs focused on advancing health equity, criminal justice reform, refugee rights, gender equality, and climate resilience and served as managing director and co-lead of IDEO.org’s New York studio. Carey earlier worked to expand access to quality education and health care at Room to Read and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and helped launch and grow mission-driven startups in Europe and the San Francisco Bay Area.
