
Seth Berkley is CEO of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, since 2011. A medical doctor and epidemiologist, he founded the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative in 1996 and was its president and CEO. Previously, he was an officer of The Rockefeller Foundation’s Health Sciences Division. Berkley has worked for the CDC’s Center for Infectious Diseases, Massachusetts Department of Public Health, and the Carter Center, where he was an epidemiologist in Uganda’s Ministry of Health, working on the country’s HIV sero-survey and helping develop AIDS control programs. He has been featured on the cover of Newsweek, in the TIME 100 list of the most influential people in the world, and in The Wired 25.
