LaToya Cantrell is mayor of New Orleans, sworn in as the city’s first female mayor in 2018 and reelected in 2021. In her first term, Cantrell’s administration successfully negotiated to pass fair-share legislation securing $200 million for infrastructure, among other achievements demonstrating her commitment to a more equitable and economically vibrant city for all. In her second term, she’s focused on public safety, infrastructure, affordable housing, and improving quality of life. Cantrell previously served on New Orleans City Council, winning elections in 2012 and 2014. Prior to that, she was president of the Broadmoor Improvement Association, leading the neighborhood’s redevelopment following Hurricane Katrina and flooding from the levee failures. Cantrell is a Fellow in the Henry Crown Fellowship through the Aspen Institute.
