Johnson & Johnson Presents: Healthcare in Critical Condition: Who Cares When Nurses Leave?

The quality of healthcare is entirely on the backs of our nurses.
Setup
The nursing crisis is a healthcare crisis. Reports across the country are ominous –70% of nurses are reporting burnout, 32% are considering leaving the profession, hospital RN vacancy rates are 19% and accelerating. And the pipeline for new nurses is choked – nursing educators are leaving in droves, resulting in 80,000 highly-qualified prospective students being turned away each year. Without skilled, experienced nurses, reliably safe and quality healthcare is at risk, with a disproportionate impact on rural America. Action is non-negotiable. The needs are urgent: patient health and safety are on the line and we must discuss solutions to healthcare’s great resignation.
