Patron Pass Thanks
In our decision to cancel the Festival, I am sure you appreciate that we chose to prioritize the health and safety of our attendees, speakers, staff, and countless volunteers, and signal our respect for those both locally and globally who are struggling with the consequences of this outbreak.
In making this decision, we are taking our cues from health professionals with whom we are closely engaged, and committing to doing our part to help flatten the curve. However, while we are optimistic that this situation will stabilize in the coming months, we don’t want to move forward and compel any of our speakers, attendees, or staff to commit to traveling to Aspen before we — or they — are confident it can be done safely for them and for the respective communities to which all would return to. It probably goes without saying as well, given the magnitude of our production, we feel it infeasible to efficiently organize the event while maintaining the recommended social distance in the weeks leading up to it.
All said, we are not stepping away from our passion to elevate the kinds of ideas and important discussions that typically define the Ideas Festival programs. In our commitment to address critical issues and elevate amazing solutions, we are exploring new models of presentation. These might include an expanded interview series on our podcast; virtual town halls and online programming in which you could actively participate; and the possibility of bringing live Aspen Ideas events to your communities in the coming months, when it is safe to move about and socialize.
How best can we bring Aspen Ideas to you? We’d love your feedback, and hope you might take a few minutes to give us your own thoughts and ideas.
Importantly, we offer options for your purchased passes here. We so appreciate your support of the Festival and all that it stands for, and thank you deeply for your understanding as we innovate new ways to reset our 2020 programming.
We do look forward to welcoming you back to Aspen as soon as reasonably possible and of course, for the 2021 festival next summer, and thank you for your appreciation of these times and this decision.
Fellow Experiences from Aspen Ideas
A generous portion of the Patron Pass fee supports the Aspen Ideas Festival fellow program. Selected for their work, accomplishments, and ability to transform ideas into action, fellows are key voices throughout the week and bring immeasurable vitality to the Festival.
Here's what fellows are saying about their Festival experience.
"This was an amazing experience, personally and professionally ... I was able to attend panels and other keynote discussions that exposed me to issue areas that I have never before been part of. I took away best practices and ideas for potential new solutions that seek to make our society better." — Jose Corona, director of equity and strategic partnerships for the office of Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf
"As I continue to unpack the lessons from many of the world's most acclaimed scientists, journalists, artists, and global thought leaders from the Aspen Ideas Festival — words cannot express my gratitude ... It was truly an honor to join 300 leaders from across the globe as a 2019 Aspen Ideas Festival Scholar." — Dolores Lozano, Public Relations and Media Specialist, Genesys Works
"I had genuine conversations and encounters with multiple people — scholars and attendees — that filled me with such gratitude and amazement. All of the sessions I attended were engaging and high quality ... Importantly, I felt like I belonged. It was an inclusive experience that left me full and energized." — Kari Mailloux, Program Officer, Hutchinson Community Foundation (KS)
