Deirdre Stanley is executive vice president and general counsel for Thomson Reuters. Stanley oversees all aspects of the company’s legal affairs and leads the day-to-day operations of the global legal department. Stanley is also a member of the Thomson Reuters Executive Committee. Prior to joining The Thomson Corporation in 2002, Stanley served as executive vice president of business development and strategy for the Electronics Commerce Solutions Division of IAC (previously USA Networks, Inc.). From 1997 through 1999, Stanley served as associate general counsel for GTE Corporation, where she headed the mergers and acquisitions group. Stanley’s awards include Inside Counsel’s Transformative Leadership Award, National Law Journal’s 20 Most Influential General Counsel recognition, and Ethisphere’s list of Attorneys Who Matter. In addition, Stanley was honored by the Girl Scouts of New York City in 2009 for her leadership and commitment to the community and advancement of women and girls.
