Who we are
Prudential Financial, Inc. is an investing, insurance, and retirement security company with over 40,000 employees and sales associates in more than 40 countries united in our purpose to make lives better by solving the financial challenges of our changing world.
Prudential was founded on the belief that financial security should be within reach for everyone. It’s a challenge we’ve embraced for more than one hundred and forty-five years since our founding in Newark, NJ and it steers our efforts to help people now and in future generations achieve peace of mind and a more secure future. Our work is guided by a core belief that financial prosperity and social progress, working together, can benefit our shareholders, customers, employees, and communities.
For over four decades, Prudential has sponsored research, incubated partnerships, and innovated and scaled distribution channels and services to more fully understand and to ultimately meet the challenges of financially untapped communities. In February 2020 we reached $1 billion in AUM in our impact investing portfolio, incubating unconventional solutions to societal and business challenges in areas such as affordable housing and education. In 2021, The Prudential Foundation surpassed $1 billion in grants since inception, providing catalytic capital for organizations on the front lines of creating inclusive workplaces, thriving communities, and accelerating economic mobility for all.
Our partnership with the Aspen Institute
As part of the strategy to drive meaningful change in racial equity, improve worker resilience and reduce the racial wealth gap, in 2021 Prudential pledged $11 million over 5 years to the Aspen Institute. Called “Equity re-imagined”, this pioneering work builds on our long-standing partnership with the Aspen Institute to shape the future of work, wealth, and capitalism: improving job quality, empowering people to build financial security, and amplifying wealth creation opportunities for historically underserved communities.
