William Browder
CEO Hermitage Capital Management, Head of the Global Magnitsky Justice Campaign and Author of Red Notice and Freezing Order
Sir William Browder KCMG is founder and CEO of Hermitage Capital Management and head of the Global Magnitsky Justice Campaign. A financier, his firm was the largest foreign investor in Russia until 2005, when he was denied entry for exposing corruption there. Browder’s fight for justice began when his Russian lawyer, Sergei Magnitsky, was tortured and died in prison after uncovering fraud by Russian government officials. His global campaign to impose visa bans and asset freezes on human rights abusers resulted in the 2012 Magnitsky Act in the United States and a global bill in 2016. Browder is the author of “Red Notice” and “Freezing Order.” His honors include being appointed a Knight Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George by King Charles in 2024.
