Tequila Smith is executive vice president and chief sustainability officer for Covanta, a waste management services company that provides sustainable materials management and environmental solutions across North America. Previously, she was vice president of sustainability for Georgia Power, where she had worked earlier in her career in roles including transmission supervisor. Smith’s experience also include roles at Alabama Power Company, as vice president of charitable giving and energy services director, and Southern Power, as general manager of solar operations and renewable energy manager, among others. She’s a board member of Sunbelt Solomon and advisory board member of Stonehenge Capital Community Development. Her professional affiliations include the National Society of Black Engineers and recognition include the 2021 Birmingham Business Journal’s Who’s Who in Nonprofits.
