
Tania Simoncelli
Director of Policy for Science, Chan Zuckerberg Initiative
Tania Simoncelli is director of science policy for the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, focused on enhancing public support for science and building an initiative to promote patient-driven disease research at scale. She has designed advocacy strategies and policy solutions to address issues at the intersection of science, technology, law, and ethics for 20 years. Simoncelli previously held roles at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, US Food and Drug Administration, and American Civil Liberties Union. In 2013, the journal Nature named her “one of 10 people who mattered” for spearheading the ACLU’s successful Supreme Court case challenging the patenting of human genes.
