Swati Thiyagarajan is an award-winning conservation journalist and documentarian. She is part of the Sea Change Project, based in Cape Town, South Africa, which works toward the long-term conservation of the Great African Seaforest through science and experience-based storytelling. Thiyagarajan was an associate producer and production manager on the Academy Award-winning documentary, My Octopus Teacher, presented by the Sea Change Project. Previously, she was the environment editor at NDTV, India’s first 24-hour English news channel. Her show “Born Wild” was the longest-running, long-format wildlife and conservation show on a prime time news channel. Thiyagarajan also directed the film The Animal Communicator and authored the book Born Wild: Journeys into the Wild Hearts of India and Africa.
