Susan Prichard is a fire ecologist and research scientist at University of Washington School of Environmental and Forest Sciences, where she’s worked for 18 years. Her focus is applied research questions that inform adaptive management under climate change, which include the effects of fire and other disturbances on forest dynamics, the effect of climate change on forest ecosystems, and management options to mitigate fire severity and smoke impacts in fire-prone forests. Prichard has contributed to more than 60 professional publications, spoken at conferences, and instructed technical workshops. She is a member of the Interagency Fuel Treatment Decision Support System’s Technical Advisory Group, board member of the Association for Fire Ecology, and an International Association of Wildland Fire scholarship committee member.
