Sherri Hobson is a former assistant U.S. attorney with the Southern District of California’s San Diego office. For 30 years, she handled border cases involving gang violence, violent crimes, immigration and border drug offenses, transnational criminal enterprises, international money laundering and cartel tunnels. In 2015, Hobson recognized and focused on the fentanyl epidemic at the border and Mexican drug trafficker's role in manufacturing, smuggling and distributing it across the border. In 2017, she organized fentanyl working groups with first responders, law enforcement and prosecutors. Hobson also targeted dark web vendors selling fentanyl from the border. In 2018, she mobilized a team to create and implement a successful, multifaceted program to address juvenile fentanyl smuggling at the border. Hobson retired in 2020.
