Roberta Kaplan is an attorney and founding partner at Kaplan Hecker and Fink, a commercial litigation practice committed to serving the public interest. The firm’s cases include the lawsuit against organizers of the 2017 violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, and E. Jean Carroll’s lawsuits against Donald Trump. Kaplan also investigated gender-equity issues involving the NCAA Division I Championships and successfully sued state officials while challenging the constitutionality of Florida’s Don’t Say Gay law. Previously, she was an attorney at Paul, Weiss for 25 years and successfully challenged the Defense of Marriage Act in United States v. Windsor. Kaplan has been named attorney of the year by New York Law Journal and most innovative lawyer of the year by Financial Times.
