Richard Baron
President and CEO, American Board of Internal Medicine
Richard Baron is president and CEO of the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and the ABIM Foundation, a position he has held since 2013. Previously, he was group director of seamless care models at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Innovation Center, where he led efforts related to accountable care organizations and primary care. Baron was chief medical officer of Health Partners, a not-for-profit Medicaid HMO, from 1988 to 1996. He founded and practiced general internal medicine and geriatrics at Greenhouse Internists in Philadelphia for almost 30 years. Baron is a member of the Commonwealth Fund advisory group on health care delivery system reform.
