Penry Gustafson

Penry Gustafson is a state senator in South Carolina, the only female senator elected in 2020. Gustafson serves on the Agriculture/Natural Resources, Family/Veterans Services, Corrections/Penology, and Judiciary committees. During the 124th Session (2020-2022), she sponsored or co-sponsored 15 general bills signed into law. Gustafson has championed the vulnerable and underserved through decades of community service and advocacy. Her wide-ranging career includes coordination of Operation Inasmuch of the Midlands, sales with Delta Foremost, and case management for adults with special needs. The National Foundation for Women Legislators named her an “Elected Woman of Excellence.” She serves on the board of directors for Gamechangers and for the Santee Lynches Council of Government. She is currently nominated for “Forbes 50 Over 50.”
