Nancy Sutley is deputy mayor of energy and sustainability for the City of Los Angeles, leading Mayor Karen Bass’ environmental, energy and sustainability policy and programs. Previously, she was senior assistant general manager of external and regulatory affairs and chief sustainability officer for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, the nation’s largest municipally owned utility. Prior to that, Sutley led the White House Council on Environmental Quality for five years during the Obama administration, a position for which she was unanimously confirmed for by the U.S. Senate. Earlier, she was deputy mayor for energy and environment under then-Los Angeles mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. Sutley serves on the board of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.
