Michael Porter is the Bishop William Lawrence University Professor at Harvard Business School. An economist, researcher, author, advisor, speaker, and teacher, he brings economic theory and strategy concepts to bear on problems such as market competition and company strategy, economic development, political competition, the environment, and health care. Porter’s research is housed at the nonprofit Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness, based at Harvard Business School, and he was a founder of the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City, the Center for Effective Philanthropy, FSG, and the International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement. Porter has authored 19 books and 125 articles. The most cited scholar in economics and business, his research has received numerous awards.
