Michael Kimmel is the SUNY Distinguished Professor of Sociology and Gender Studies at Stony Brook University, where he founded the Center for the Study of Men and Masculinities in 2013. He consults and has lectured widely on gender equity, and has delivered the International Women’s Day lecture at the European Parliament, European Commission, and Council of Europe. Kimmel worked with ministers for gender equality in Scandinavia developing programs for boys and men. His many books include Manhood in America, Angry White Men, The Politics of Manhood, The Gendered Society, and the best-seller Guyland: The Perilous World Where Boys Become Men. The Guardian named him “the world’s most prominent male feminist.”
