Melissa Walker is an art therapist at the National Intrepid Center of Excellence. Since joining NICoE in 2010, she developed and implemented the Healing Arts Program, focusing on integration and research of creative arts therapies for service members with traumatic brain injury and psychological health concerns. Walker previously was an art therapist at Walter Reed Army Medical Center’s inpatient psychiatric unit. She has partnered with the National Endowment for the Arts to develop the NEA Military Healing Arts Partnership, which explores the benefits of the arts for military members and expands access to these services. Her work has been featured in National Geographic, on “60 Minutes,” and at TEDMED.
