Martin Keller

Director, National Renewable Energy Laboratory

Martin Keller is director of National Renewable Energy Laboratory, since 2015, and president of Alliance for Sustainable Energy, which operates NREL for the US Department of Energy. He came to NREL from Oak Ridge National Laboratory, which he joined in 2006. Keller was appointed associate laboratory director in 2009 and, in 2010, began leading its newly formed Energy and Environmental Sciences directorate, responsible for research programs supported by the US Department of Energy, Environmental Protection Agency, and National Institutes of Health. Keller was also founding director of the DOE BioEnergy Science Center and director of the Biosciences Division. Previously, he held several research management positions within Diversa Corporation, a biotechnology company.
