Marta Echavarria is founder of EcoDecisión, a consultancy specialized in conservation finance in Latin America. She has been committed to water protection since her days in college when she worked on a multi-stakeholder digital platform for managing competing interests in Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island. EcoDecisión has pioneered different institutional and financial arrangements to make watershed protection a viable investment for water users including agricultural users, water utilities, and private and public entities. Throughout her career, Echavarria has also led the development of environmental management programs with various agro-industrial sectors in Colombia, Guatemala, and Ecuador. She was selected a Senior Ashoka Fellow in 2006 and participates in various boards of private foundations.
