Mark Gordon

Governor, State of Wyoming

Mark Gordon is the governor of Wyoming, elected to his second term in 2022. Since leading the state through the COVID-19 pandemic and the significant decline in its mineral revenue, he is directing efforts to diversify Wyoming’s economy, including technology, finance, agriculture, energy, carbon capture and sequestration, research, education, and tourism. Prior to this, Gordon was Wyoming state treasurer from 2012 to 2019. In this role, he modernized the management of the state’s financial portfolio, and in 2016 Wyoming earned the Peterson Institute’s No. 1 in the United States and No. 3 in the world rankings for transparency and accountability among sovereign funds. Gordon was named one of Sovereign Wealth Fund Institute’s most significant and impactful public investor executives in 2013.
