
Madeline Pumariega
President of Miami Dade College
Madeline Pumariega is president of Miami Dade College, the first female in that role. A longtime innovator in higher education, she was previously executive vice president and provost of Tallahassee Community College, leading the school during the COVID-19 pandemic, and an affiliate professor of leadership at NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. Before that, Pumariega was chancellor of the Florida College System, where she designed and implemented strategies to keep college accessible and affordable as the system’s first female and first Hispanic leader. Earlier, she worked for 21 years in multiple roles at Miami Dade College, where she had been a student, starting as an academic advisor and adjunct faculty and culminating in Wolfson Campus president.
