Kayla Schaefer is a rising senior at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School with an everlasting love for animals. On her 17th birthday, her life changed forever. The school she attends was invaded by a mentally ill individual who owned a gun legally. This individual killed 17 of Schaefer’s fellow students and staff members; one of the students was killed in her fourth-period class. She strives to see a change and show others there needs to be one. Schaefer believes there should be a difference for her generation and generations to come. She wants to make sure that there is justice for the victims wrongfully killed.
