Jorge Plutzky

Jorge Plutzky is director of preventive cardiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and a Harvard Medical School faculty member. An expert on preventive cardiology, hypercholesterolemia, and other lipid disorders, he’s known for bridging heart disease and abnormal metabolism as pursued in his NIH-funded laboratory. Plutzky has served on the US Food and Drug Administration’s Endocrine and Metabolic Advisory Committee and is a director of the Sarnoff Cardiovascular Research Foundation, where he chairs the scientific committee. Also a teacher and a speaker, he has been recognized with the American Heart Association’s Katz Basic Science Prize, University of Cologne’s Klenck Award, Harvard Medical School’s Tucker Collins Lectureship, and the Braunwald Teaching Award.
