Jorge Plutzky

Director, Preventive Cardiology, Brigham Health (Festival Underwriter)

Jorge Plutzky is director of preventive cardiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and a Harvard Medical School faculty member. An expert on preventive cardiology, hypercholesterolemia, and other lipid disorders, he’s known for bridging heart disease and abnormal metabolism as pursued in his NIH-funded laboratory. Plutzky has served on the US Food and Drug Administration’s Endocrine and Metabolic Advisory Committee and is a director of the Sarnoff Cardiovascular Research Foundation, where he chairs the scientific committee. Also a teacher and a speaker, he has been recognized with the American Heart Association’s Katz Basic Science Prize, University of Cologne’s Klenck Award, Harvard Medical School’s Tucker Collins Lectureship, and the Braunwald Teaching Award. (Festival Underwriter Presenter)
