Jeff Marrazzo is founder and CEO of Spark Therapeutics, leading its creation and growth from a research center within Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to a commercial gene therapy company, for which he’s raised more than $1 billion in capital. He also serves on Spark’s board of directors. Under his leadership, Spark has received FDA approval for and launched the first gene therapy for a genetic disease in the United States. Marrazzo was previously senior vice president of corporate strategy and business development for Generation Health and special assistant to the governor of Pennsylvania from 2003 to 2007 on issues including health care. He’s on the board of the Biotechnology Innovation Organization.
