Jean Flemma

Jean Flemma is director of the Ocean Defense Initiative, co-founder of Urban Ocean Lab, and a steering committee member of the Ocean Justice Forum. An expert in ocean policy and achieving policy change, Flemma advises nonprofits and foundations on matters of ocean and climate policy. Previously, she spent two decades advising members of Congress on the conservation and sustainable management of ocean and other natural resources. Prior to this, Flemma was executive director of Prairie Rivers Network, where she is now a board member. She began her career in public policy on Capitol Hill as a Sea Grant Fellow. Flemma is an advisory board member of the Elakha Alliance and the Endangered Species Coalition and an Alaska Wilderness League Action member.
