Jason Karlawish is a professor of medicine, medical ethics, and health policy, as well as a neurology professor, at University of Pennsylvania. He is the director of Penn’s Neurodegenerative Disease Ethics and Policy Program, co-director of the Penn Memory Center, director of the Alzheimer’s Disease Center’s Outreach and Recruitment Core, and director of a CDC-funded Healthy Brain Initiative center. Karlawish’s clinical practice focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of persons with Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders; his research focuses on ethical and policy issues encountered in research and care that engages older adults with late-life cognitive disorders such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.
