Jane McGonigal is a designer of alternate reality games and director of games research and development at Institute for the Future. She invented and co-founded the game SuperBetter and founded the collaborative Gameful. Specializing in games that tackle real-world problems, she has created games for the American Heart Association and World Bank Institute and developed game workshops for large companies. McGonigal’s work includes World Without Oil, and Cruel 2 B Kind. She previously taught game design and theory at UC Berkeley and San Francisco Art Institute, serves on the Games for Change board, and authored Reality Is Broken: Why Games Make Us Better and How They Can Change the World.
