Jim Steyer is founder and CEO of Common Sense Media, a kids media and child advocacy organization. A leading child advocate and civil rights attorney, he previously founded and was chairman and CEO of JP Kids and the national advocacy group, Children Now. For more than 30 years, Steyer has taught courses on civil rights, civil liberties, and children and education issues as a professor at Stanford University. He authored, most recently, Which Side of History? How Technology Is Reshaping Democracy and Our Lives, as well as Talking Back to Facebook: The Common Sense Guide to Raising Kids in the Digital Age and The Other Parent: The Inside Story of the Media’s Effect on Our Children. Steyer’s honors include the Walter J. Gores Award for Excellence in Teaching.
