Ian Colin McCain isthe business development manager along Mack Avenue for Eastside Community Network in Detroit, supporting existing businesses through the Mack Avenue Business Association and working to attract new businesses. Pursuing his Master of Community Development at University of Detroit, Mercy, his final project is “Decolonizing Community Development: Creating Thriving Communities Amidst Crisis.” McCain previously planned and gave tours with the Detroit Experience Factory, has worked as a real estate agent and mortgage banker, and served as a Year Five Challenge Detroit Fellow. His interests lie at the intersection of community engagement, political organizing, and economic development. He intends to pursue a doctoral degree in urban planning or public policy and run for public office.
