Gerard Baker is editor in chief of The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones, roles he assumed on January 1, 2013. Prior to his appointment, he was the Journal’s deputy editor in chief, from 2009 through 2012. Baker previously worked for the Times of London, as US editor and assistant editor; for the Financial Times, as chief US commentator and associate editor, Washington, DC, bureau chief, and Tokyo correspondent; and for the BBC, as a producer and economics correspondent. He started his career as an analyst at the Bank of England, and then as an economist in the city of London.
