Clinical Psychologist; Director, Amigo Family Counseling
Emilio M. Amigo is a clinical psychologist and director of Amigo Family Counseling in Columbus, Ohio. Licensed as a mental health therapist since 1986, he has for the last 20 years specialized in working with individuals living with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Amigo’s treatment program, called Respons·ability Social Therapy, an approach centered on group therapy, has garnered attention. Amigo, his clinical staff, and his ASD clients were the subjects of a recent documentary film, How to Dance in Ohio, by filmmaker Alexandra Shiva’s Gidalya Pictures. The film, focusing on teenagers with ASD as they prepare for a spring formal dance, will air on HBO this fall.
