Elisabeth Bumiller is Washington bureau chief of The New York Times. Her career at the Times includes working as a White House correspondent from Sept. 10, 2001 to 2006, and as a Pentagon correspondent from 2008 to 2013. She also covered John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign and was (New York) city hall bureau chief for the paper. From 1979 to 1985, Bumiller worked for The Washington Post in Washington, New Delhi, Tokyo, and New York. She has authored three books: Condoleezza Rice: An American Life; The Secrets of Mariko: A Year in the Life of A Japanese Woman and Her Family; and May You Be the Mother of a Hundred Sons: A Journey Among the Women of India.
