Edward Luce
Chief US Commentator, Financial Times
Edward Luce is chief US commentator at the Financial Times and one of its most highly read columnists. He has also been Washington bureau chief, capital markets editor, and South Asia bureau chief. From 1999 to 2001, Luce was speechwriter to then US treasury secretary Lawrence Summers. His books include In Spite of the Gods, which The Economist called “the definitive book on India”; Time to Start Thinking: America in the Age of Descent; and The Retreat of Western Liberalism (June 2017). Luce brings a Washington insider’s approach to American issues, is recognized as a leading authority on a rising India, and covers globalization, China, and the United Kingdom.
