Earlonne Woods is co-founder, co-host and co-producer of the prison-based podcast “Ear Hustle.” He also founded CHOOSE1, an organization which aims to repeal California’s Three Strikes Law, the statute under which he was sentenced to 31 years to life in prison in 1997 for attempted second-degree robbery. While incarcerated, Woods received his GED, attended Coastline Community College and completed many vocational trade programs. His sentence was commuted in 2018 by California’s governor, Jerry Brown, and upon his release he was hired by PRX as a full-time producer and co-host for “Ear Hustle.” The podcast, which has won numerous awards, was a finalist for the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for Audio Reporting and two-time Peabody Award nominee. Woods also co-authored “This Is Ear Hustle: Unflinching Stories of Everyday Prison Life.”
