Derrick Johnson

President and CEO, NAACP

Derrick Johnson is president and CEO of the NAACP. He formerly was vice chairman of the NAACP national board of directors and president of NAACP’s Mississippi State Conference. Johnson has led NAACP efforts such as the Log Out Facebook Campaign, Jamestown to Jamestown Partnership, and the 2020 We are Done Dying Campaign. He has held fellowships with Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, George Washington University School of Political Management, and MIT. Johnson is a guest lecturer at Harvard Law School and an adjunct professor at Tougaloo College. A regional organizer at Southern Echo, he provides legal, technical, and training support for communities across the South. Johnson has appeared on MSNBC, CBS and ABC, among others, advocating for the Black community and all those affected by systemic oppression.
