Chiquita Brooks-LaSure is the Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), where she oversees Medicare, Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program, and the HealthCare.gov health insurance marketplace - programs that together provide health coverage for more than 150 million people. Brooks-LaSure has decades of experience in the federal government, on Capitol Hill, and in the private sector driving work that established CHIP, drafted the Affordable Care Act, and implemented the law. As deputy director for policy at CMS’s Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight and as the Department of Health and Human Services’ director of coverage policy, Brooks-LaSure led the agency’s implementation of ACA coverage and insurance reform policy provisions.
