Professor and Chair, Department of Ocean Sciences, Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences, University of Miami
Brian K. Haus is a professor in and chair of the Ocean Sciences Department at University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences, where he has worked since 1993. His research focus is on experimental studies of engineering reefs for coastal resilience, shelf and inlet dynamics, and air-sea interactions for application to coastal resilience and climate and hurricane modeling. Haus is a leader in laboratory studies of air-sea interactions in extreme winds, wave dynamics, turbulence, and coastal structure design in the school’s SUSTAIN wind-wave facility, which includes research projects and studies sponsored by the National Science Foundation, the Office of Naval Research, and others. He has authored over 95 peer-reviewed publications in the field of coastal processes, air-sea interactions, and wave dynamics.
