Barry Gold is environment program director at Walton Family Foundation, leading freshwater and marine initiatives to find solutions that benefit the environment and strengthen local economies. Previously, he was director of marine conservation at Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and managed the David and Lucile Packard Foundation’s work on ecosystem-based management and linking science to policy. Gold has held senior positions with the US Department of the Interior, the US House of Representatives Committee on Science, the National Academy of Sciences, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He has served as board president for the Consultative Group on Biological Diversity and vice chair of California Ocean Science Trust.
