Alisa Solomon is a theater critic, dramaturg, and professor at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. She has written for The Nation, The New York Times,newyorker.com, American Theater, The Forward, The Drama Review, VICE Sports, and the Village Voice, where she was on staff from 1983 to 2004, writing about theater and covering US immigration policy, queer activism, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and women’s basketball. Solomon is the author of Re-Dressing the Canon: Essays on Theater and Gender, winner of the George Jean Nathan Award for Dramatic Criticism,and Wonder of Wonders: A Cultural History of Fiddler on the Roof. As dramaturg, her latest project was Anna Deavere Smith’s Notes from the Field.
