Adolfo García-Sastre is director of the Global Health and Emerging Pathogens Institute and a professor of microbiology and medicine at the Tisch Cancer Institute at Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine, where he is principal investigator for the Center for Research on Influenza Pathogenesis and Transmission. García-Sastre’s research focuses on, among other things, virus-host interactions and the development of new vaccines and antivirals. An elected member of the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Inventors, he has more than 600 peer-reviewed publications and is editor of the scientific journal PLoS Pathogens and editor in chief of Current Opinion in Virology.
