
Mary Helen Immordino-Yang is an associate education professor at Rossier School of Education, associate psychology professor at the Brain and Creativity Institute, and a faculty member of University of Southern California’s Neuroscience Graduate Program. A former public junior high school science teacher, she studies the psychological and neurobiological bases of social emotion, self-awareness, and culture. Immordino-Yang is president of the International Mind, Brain and Education Society; a distinguished scientist on the Aspen Institute’s National Commission on Social, Emotional, and Academic Development; a member of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s Committee on the Science and Practice of Learning; and associate editor of Mind, Brain and Education and AERA Open.
