Tom Fanning is chairman, president, and CEO of Southern Company, one of the largest energy producers in the United States with over nine million customers in 19 states. During his 35-plus-year career at Southern Company, Fanning has held 15 different positions, including COO, CFO, and CIO. He is a strong advocate for a commonsense national energy policy that embraces energy’s potential to drive economic growth and improve the lives of all Americans. Fanning is chair of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, principal of the American Energy Innovation Council, and co-chair of the Electricity Subsector Coordinating Council, an industry-government partnership working to protect infrastructure from cyber and physical threats.
