Manka Behl is an independent journalist based in central India with a focus on environmental and climate change reporting. Throughout her decade-long career, she has been particularly passionate about reporting on coal pollution, deforestation and impacts of climate change on public health. Recently, her major focus has been on rising climate catastrophes and the plight of the rural population. Behl has written for The Economic Times, including for its business verticals ET Energy World, ET Healthworld and ETAuto.com; The Wire (India); Climate Tracker; and The Times of India, where she was previously a senior correspondent. For that, she was named one of three 2023 Journalists of the Year by Covering Climate Now.
