Joe Biden is vice president of the United States, tasked with, among other things: implementing and overseeing the $840 billion stimulus package and the Ready to Work Initiative, working with Congress on key issues including the 2013 reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, convening the president’s Cabinet, leading interagency efforts to reduce gun violence and raise the living standards of middle-class Americans, advising President Obama on international issues, and acting as the administration’s point person for diplomacy within the Western Hemisphere and leading regional efforts to address economic, social, governance, and citizen security challenges. Biden previously represented Delaware for 36 years in the US Senate.
