James Nachtwey

James Nachtwey is a photojournalist who has dedicated his career to documenting wars, conflicts, and critical health and social issues worldwide since 1981. A contract photographer with TIME and co-founder of the photo agency VII, he has received numerous awards from the journalism profession as well as for contributions to art and humanitarian causes. Recipient of the 2016 Princess of Asturias Award, Nachtwey has won the Robert Capa Gold Medal for exceptional courage and enterprise five times. Eight-time magazine photographer of the year, he was awarded an honorary degree from Dartmouth College, which recently acquired the archive of his life's work. Nachtwey received the 2012 Dresden Prize for promoting world peace and the TED Prize in 2007.
