Setup
Even with a rapid abatement of all future emissions, there’s still too much carbon in the atmosphere to avoid the worst climate consequences. Carbon dioxide removal (CDR)—the capture and sequestration of atmospheric carbon dioxide by technological, mechanical or accelerated natural processes—will be required, yet no single CDR practice has been proven ready to address the challenge. In this session, we will shine light on emerging methods of CDR, specifically those that enhance natural processes, and ask how we might responsibly support innovation and drive investment while avoiding unintended and potentially irreversible harm to natural systems.
